Her music is infectious and effortlessly energetic, yet it affects me the same way a slow song might on a secret track. As of last night, I am a big fan of SoKo and can easily see her becoming one of my influences.
So I found an episode of What's in My Bag? featuring SoKo in some record store in L.A. After watching this, I love her even more because we share similar tastes. When she pulled out a copy of Slowdive's Souvlaki, I nearly wet myself--especially when she said it's the kind of music she likes to slowly wake up to. "Altogether" is my alarm song--my first alarm song--that I'll lay and listen to in a sleepy haze. It's gentle and makes the morning not so unbearable, especially when I'd rather sleep. And when I do, I hit the snooze button until my second alarm, "Round and Round" by Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, comes on with a tad more urgency like it's saying, "OK Tara, stop fucking around and get up."
Anyway, here's a song of hers along with that episode. Enjoy x
